PAINT SAMPLING & ANALYSIS

With recently guidelines for Bio-fouling management, the Paint companies are actively looking to innovate in producing Environmentally friendly and Soft coatings which doesn’t allow the Bio-fouling to accumulate rapidly. A newly Painted Hull comes with a warranty by the Paint Maker which ranges from 3 to 5 years depending on product and application. Within this period, the Ship Owners/Managers through Underwater inspection makes sure to see if the Anti-fouling is active and bio-fouling is not being accumulated on the Hull. To verify their product quality and specs, Paint companies would like to analyse the Paint samples from Hull which are under warranty to assess what has caused the growth. Ergono Solutions understands the need and arranges for the Paint Flakes through different parts of the Hull as requested by the Paint Companies and deliver it safely to them in Plastic air tight Zip lock bags. Some common locations to collect Paint Samples are:

• Hull Starboard Side – Samples from Forward, Midship and Aft with 5 m Draft difference.
• Hull Port Side – Samples from Forward, Midship and Aft with 5 m Draft difference.
• Hull Flat Bottom – Samples from Forward, Mid ship and Aft with 50 m Length wise and Side wise.

Keeping in view the demand and requirement, Ergono Solutions have formed a Joint Venture with Laboratories in Singapore, UAE and Korea to perform the sample analysis of the Paint which Ship owners can use against the Warranty claims. This Analysis reports provide the details of toxic substance contamination and the deterioration of the Antifouling film on the ship hull. This enables, Ship owners to raise their Warranty claims with evidence to the Paint Companies.
